Background
Hi there, I’m Megan – a creator of films, video content, and creative digital promotion by day, and a dancer/musician by night. I have always been a creative; unlike other 6-year-olds who wanted to be doctors or firefighters when they grew up, I was deadset on being a popstar. At age 8, I decided I wanted to be a famous child actress. While neither of those have happened (although I do still hold out some secret hope for my popstar career), I fell in love with storytelling. I have always been drawn to the beauty, power, and responsibility that comes with being able to create something that sparks an emotional connection in a complete stranger. My specialty is taking an extensive understanding of the creative needs and objectives of a project in development and using my logistical production background to see each project through to completion. My musical background plays an influential role in my unique qualities as a video creator, and I thrive in the intersection of visual and audio storytelling. I am a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a degree in Film and TV Production. As a student I volunteered at the Fusion Film Festival, an organization that promotes women and nonbinary filmmakers, and I continue to work to create space for diverse voices on and off the screen.
Career
I am currently working on freelance client-based projects, including editing video content, photographing dance productions and events, and managing creative photo/video promotional content for a competitive salsa dance team. I was previously the assistant to the Executive Producer of Showtime’s Billions Season 7, where I coordinated weekly logistics to meet production requirements, including location scouts and scheduling, production design, talent relations, upcoming script needs, and onboarding each episodic director. I previously served as the Health and Safety/Testing Coordinator on two TV productions where I developed and implemented testing programs to allow filming during the Covid-19 pandemic in accordance with union rules and safety regulations. In addition to larger TV productions, I have two years of internship experience from WGBH (a branch of PBS) in both national content development, where I focused on the research and development of upcoming episodes for a wide variety of documentary shows, and in post-production, where I selected creative content for teaser trailers and collaborated with a team of editors.
Short Films
I have written and directed a variety of short films, including a foreign film shot in Prague that was an official selection at NFFTY’s 2020 festival. My work often explores the complex dynamics of female relationships. I am excited to be currently working on a feature film script and developing my first TV pilot! In addition to writing and directing, I have also worked as the production designer, script supervisor, and director of photography on a variety of short films.
Hobbies and Passions
Growing up, I spent most of my time pursuing a deep passion for ballet and have continued my dance journey in NYC as a salsa dancer, now traveling and performing on a latin dance team at congresses across the country. I am a musician, dedicating the majority of my time to piano and jazz saxophone, and am currently the saxophonist in a salsa band. Along with my creative passions, I am also a voracious reader and love to travel, hike, and spend time at the beach.
